Can I come and see the house being built?
Yes you can! Look at the Schedule to see what is planned each day for the project and decide what would work best for you. The spectator area will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 5 – Friday, October 8, 2009. Please remember there may be long periods of standing so wear closed toe, comfortable shoes. Dress warm/bring rain gear in case it rains. There are no food vendors on site. Also a good idea to bring some drinking water.

Will there be free parking?
Yes, we have limited parking available. There will be signs, so please follow directions and drive carefully. Please review the map and get familiar with the local streets. There will be a continuous shuttle service to take you back and forth from the parking area to the construction site.

Will there be handicap accessible parking?
If you need handicap accessibility, we ask that you drive up to the check-in site and drop off the individual and then park your car in the parking area.

Can I volunteer? How?
If you are interested in volunteering, please click on Volunteer page for info. This is a 24/7 construction project and we need all the help we can get! NOTE: We will post notices on the Website regarding specific needs.

Are children allowed?
If you are a volunteer, we are asking that you do not bring children under the age of 18 to the construction site for safety reasons. If you are a spectator, please take in consideration that this is standing room only – there are no seats – and the weather may be be cold. Please use your best judgment.

Can I get autographs?
Ty, the rest of the design Team, and all the volunteers are going to be working really hard to make sure the family comes back from their vacation to a completed house. There may be opportunities for autographs, but we unfortunately cannot guarantee that.

Can I bring a sign?
You can certainly bring a sign to encourage all the volunteers and construction workers! They deserve all the credit for lending us their time and expertise to help build this house in one week. Your signs would be very much appreciated. Keep them positive, short, and visible from a distance.

Is smoking allowed?
There will be no smoking allowed. This is a live construction site and we need to take every precaution to make it a safe environment for everyone involved.
Back ^

Will cameras and video cameras be allowed?
You are more than welcome to bring them and use them while you are in the spectator area. We also will be posting new photos daily to this Website during the build so be sure to check back regularly for updates!

Can I bring food?
We certainly don’t mind you doing that. Please if it is hot, remember to drink lots of water. Please also remember that we are guests in this neighborhood. People live here and we need to be respectful of that. We are guests in this neighborhood so please be sure to throw any garbage away in the proper receptacles.

Will spectators be allowed if the weather is bad?
The construction will go on even if it storms! Please use your good judgment when deciding to come down and visit. Umbrellas are allowed, but unfortunately, there will not be a covered area for spectators.
Back ^

Will there be bathrooms?
Yes, there will be nearby portables available to you.
Back ^

Will there be paramedics for emergencies?
Yes. In case of an emergency, please look for the paramedics, or a staff volunteer (in a polo shirt), and ask for assistance. If it is an urgent matter, please do not wait for assistance - call 911.

I'm with the Media. How can I obtain access to the site?
We have a webpage dedicated to media instructions and information. Please see the Media and V.I.P. page.
Back ^

I'm a close personal friend of the Family. Can I get a V.I.P. pass?
Please coordinate your V.I.P. request with an immediate family member. Please see the Media and V.I.P. page for more info.

I'm a close personal friend of the Family. Can I volunteer?
You are welcome to volunteer, however, please keep in mind we may not be able to use all who volunteer. If you are selected as a volunteer, you still may not have access to the construction site depending on your duties.
